Mayor Lynn Crawford & Village Manager Ron Sena announced the upcoming construction of a new company, IUSA, on Village-owned land near the airport. The company will convert yard waste—such as pine needles and tree limbs—into biofuels and other forms of green energy. He and Village Manager Ron Sena also discussed the ongoing difficulty in securing adequate disaster recovery funding from state and federal sources, not only for the recent floods but also for unresolved damage from past disasters.
Adam Sanchez, Public Works Director, provided an update on flood-related infrastructure damage that occurred two weeks ago. He also addressed the ongoing boil water advisory affecting customers in the Upper Canyon, explaining that it will remain in effect until the latest water samples are tested. In addition, he answered listener questions about road repairs around the village, including updates on Brady Canyon and Porr.
Fire Chief Cade Hall spoke about the overwhelming support the Village has received from communities across the country in response to recent disasters. He also explained the reasoning behind not using the siren system during flooding events, offering clarity on how emergency alerts are currently handled.
Eddie Ryan, Manager of Events & Strategic Partnerships shared updates on the documentary series covering last year’s fires, including a projected release timeline for the film The Lost Bus. He also recapped the recent Under a Mountain Sky concert featuring Max Gomez, which drew a crowd of approximately 500 attendees.
Matthew Baird, Parks & Recreation Director & David “TBone” Tetreault, Assistant Parks & Recreation Director highlighted the success of the Ruidoso Marathon, which drew 750 registered runners. They also addressed flood-related damage to the Gavilon Canyon ballfield and outlined next steps for repairs and recovery.
